This simple survey will tell you how left-handed you are and give you an overall score you can compare to the thousands of others who have taken the test.
You can see our analysis of the test results so far here.
So go ahead and tick the options for which hand you use for various things and see how you rate overall…
How left handed are you?
We all have our own view of whether we are left-handed or not and, ultimately, that is the the test - if you consider yourself to be left-handed then you are! That said, most people are mixed in their handedness and it is rare for people to do everything with just one hand or side of their body. Our test below will show which side you use for various tasks and how consistent you are in the use of your hands. It will also give you give you an overall score out of 100 for your level of left-handedness and you can see how you compare to other people. To get the overall score, we have weighted the various factors so, for example, writing left-handed gets a far higher weighting in the overall score than which way you hold a bat two-handed (see this page for more information on how we did this).
Please would you allow options for either hand in your survey? A lot of us are partially ambidextrous (“ambisinstrous” might be a better word in this context). This might be by inclination or as a consequence of living in a right handed world. Thank you. I am also not sure about eye and ear dominance- especially as we get older- for example, I now have significant hearing loss in one ear and vision deterioration in the other eye. I can’t be the only person in middle age with this. Perhaps 25 yrs ago I took part in a genetic study on left handedness- they asked questions about which hand you strike a match with and which you carry a bag with (for lefties, this is usually the right I think- to leave your left hand free for door opening). Thanks for the genetic information- that was interesting.
I use a mouse right handed; I can brush or comb with either hand. I could bat right handed if I wanted. I can throw a ball lefty, but can throw with more force and accuracy righty. I text one handed — just use either hand but not both together together .
Soll nach 53 Jahren beweisen das ich Linkshänder bin
Most of the stuff I do right handed is simply because I have had to learn how over the years.
oooo
I brush my teeth with my right hand because I’m the house where I grew up, if I used my left hand, I’d be hitting my left elbow against the wall. I use the mouse right handed because that is how the computers at work were set up. I type on my phone with my right hand. I don’t know why, but it might be related to the mouse thing. My dexterity still isn’t that great in that hand. When I circle or underline something on the screen, it’s pretty sloppy. I am left-eyed because I was born with a cataract in the right eye.
I’m actually seriously left handed and not mainly left handed. My right handed answers are because I’ve had to adapt to a right handed world.
Checked eye dominance and I am right eye dominant and I have always batted a ball right handed, but that is it for my right side as far as I know. All info. interesting.
Being a leftie is really great…I love it..I want all my children to be lefties too…by the will of GOD…I love you all..here…happy new year in advance..don’t forget 13august you all..our day
As a child, my grandfather tried to comfort me by saying that left-handed poeople think with the right side of the brain and that helped a little….. I am currently reading “Wild Creature Mind” by Steve Biddulph, but he doesn’t mention this !
