This simple survey will tell you how left-handed you are and give you an overall score you can compare to the thousands of others who have taken the test.
You can see our analysis of the test results so far here.
So go ahead and tick the options for which hand you use for various things and see how you rate overall…
How left handed are you?
We all have our own view of whether we are left-handed or not and, ultimately, that is the the test - if you consider yourself to be left-handed then you are! That said, most people are mixed in their handedness and it is rare for people to do everything with just one hand or side of their body. Our test below will show which side you use for various tasks and how consistent you are in the use of your hands. It will also give you give you an overall score out of 100 for your level of left-handedness and you can see how you compare to other people. To get the overall score, we have weighted the various factors so, for example, writing left-handed gets a far higher weighting in the overall score than which way you hold a bat two-handed (see this page for more information on how we did this).
I have to always think how to turn a key. Walking with my husband is another thinking session to keep from walking into him.. Eating is a choir when sitting next to a right handed person because our arms are always bumping into one another. I had hoped one of my four children would be left handed but none were.
I am left handed in a right handed world and it does make life interesting.
I, like many lefties, am ambidextrous. It would be nice to ‘test’ for this as well.
Still an interesting little survey.
As lefties tend to die younger, I hope to answer next years ‘test’
Cheers
Wanted to give feedback on two questions in which I responded that I use my right hand.
1. Scissors—I find that using the right hand for cutting keeps my more finely tuned dominant left hand available to guide the paper to the scissors precisely.
2. Telephone use—I routinely hold the telephone with my right hand in order to keep my dominant left hand available to jot notes, grab materials related to the call, or just to doodle.
This test was fun. I’ve never before taken a handedness test. However, there was no option on the questions to answer “either” as, with some activities I think that I could choose to use either hand so, the result ended up a little distorted for me. Also, some questions didn’t allow me to elaborate further, for instance, I have always had to hold a tea/coffee cup in my right hand but any cutlery/pens/pencils/utensils have to be in my left hand. I always use scissors in my left-hand but they have to be right-handed scissors. I simply can’t get on with left-handed scissors! I wish the test had allowed me to say more about how I do things.
You might want to include questions about using a computer mouse, opening bottles and jars and turning keys in a door.
Regarding the question about holding a bat two-handed, I answered it wrong, but it wouldn’t let me change my answer from right to left. The question was strangely worded. Also, many of us are ambidextrous, so there should have been a choice for both/either.
This test does not reveal enough question or an option to select both hands. I can eat with a spoon, brush hair, use a telephone and tools left or right handed. I shoot pool and guns right handed.
I was fortunate to have a left-handed mother who protected me from being forced to do anything right-handed.
Now I get to suffer because I can’t do a lot of things because the world is centered around right-handed people 🙁
All scissors for public use in the world, that us lefties have to deal with, are for right-handed people
I can rub my stomach and pat my head together in both hand combinations. So, do lefties always find it easier to be ambidextrous?
I can play a right-handed setup drum kit till I get too excited….
This thing calculated my score to be a 76, which is in the range of “Mainly left-handed”. Supposedly, my left hand is my dominant hand, but I’m not able to do EVERYTHING with that hand right away. Nice of y’all to make a quiz that’ll calculate how left-handed people are on a scale of 0 to 100 (With 0 being the worst and 100 being the best). If there was a “How right-handed are you?” quiz, then I probably would’ve scored a 24 on that if I got a 76 on this quiz.
