So go ahead and tick the options for which hand you use for various things and see how you rate overall…

How left handed are you?

We all have our own view of whether we are left-handed or not and, ultimately, that is the the test - if you consider yourself to be left-handed then you are! That said, most people are mixed in their handedness and it is rare for people to do everything with just one hand or side of their body. Our test below will show which side you use for various tasks and how consistent you are in the use of your hands. It will also give you give you an overall score out of 100 for your level of left-handedness and you can see how you compare to other people. To get the overall score, we have weighted the various factors so, for example, writing left-handed gets a far higher weighting in the overall score than which way you hold a bat two-handed (see this page for more information on how we did this).

I am ambidextrous, and yet I scored 79%, or mainly left handed, which I found highly entertaining. I used to recognize as left handed even though I throw and kick right. Recently though, my friends got really confused when they saw me sign my name with my right hand (cursive/joined lettering looks better with my right hand than my left). After explaining that I used to start sentences with my left hand and finish with my right (something that blew their minds and pissed off my first grade teacher), I began to call myself “ambidextrous”.
And that’s what what I’ve called myself ever since!! 🙂

I’ve taken this test 3-4 times. I sometimes forget how lefthanded I am. Turns out, it’s a lot.

  5. Mary says:

90%. Pretty much what I expected, if not higher. Never really thought a about it, I just figured I adapted well this right handed world😊

  6. Matthew says:

I got 88.l always use my left hand for ever thing.l had never seen a pair left hand scissors until my late teens by that time I had learned how to use the right. I also had my hand tide behind back. The nuns were just mean. Still have hard time with can opener

  7. El Door says:

There is a difference between left-handed writers who write “overhand” and those who write “underhand” as rigthties do. Your test does not differentiate. Overhand writers are mostly ambivalent or almost equally strong with both hands and both sides of the brain. Please do more research on this.

  8. Jordan says:

I find that at many things I am left handed, but others I am equal at. I think maybe a both option would be useful. Either way, I was not surprised by my 80%.

  9. Tess says:

I got 100%! Which means, “seriously left-handed.” No surprise there! I’ve always considered myself to be very left-handed. 🙂

  10. Me again says:

100% left-handed! As usual! I expected this, as wrong-handedness is the worst sin ever!
