This simple survey will tell you how left-handed you are and give you an overall score you can compare to the thousands of others who have taken the test.
You can see our analysis of the test results so far here.
So go ahead and tick the options for which hand you use for various things and see how you rate overall…
How left handed are you?
We all have our own view of whether we are left-handed or not and, ultimately, that is the the test - if you consider yourself to be left-handed then you are! That said, most people are mixed in their handedness and it is rare for people to do everything with just one hand or side of their body. Our test below will show which side you use for various tasks and how consistent you are in the use of your hands. It will also give you give you an overall score out of 100 for your level of left-handedness and you can see how you compare to other people. To get the overall score, we have weighted the various factors so, for example, writing left-handed gets a far higher weighting in the overall score than which way you hold a bat two-handed (see this page for more information on how we did this).
Interesting book – “A Left-Hander in Society” by Patrice Mosette!
No option for either hand.
eg. I throw overarm with right but bowl underarm with left.
I had a problem with the bat question as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so grasping with left hand was not possible. It is wonderful that one of my grandchildren is a lefty as are two great neices. I was one of eight children and the only lefty so we are now a litt!e quartet content to sit at a table together. I never liked being called ‘corrie fisted,
Thank you for the survey. I had two stokes several years ago and they affected my left side. I couldn’t even hold a pencil. So I was forced to use my right hand. I happy to see I’m mostly left handed. I wouldn’t want it any other way. Thanks!
One more thing, I hold my phone in my right hand to talk so that my left hand is free to write or do other tasks. This is where I think the test makes an error. You are more lefty to hold the phone in your right hand! How do I enter the number I’m calling?
With my left!
I am totally a left hander. The only thing I do on the right is kick a ball but that goes to how we drive. We all use the right food for gas & breaking, hence, I tend to use the right foot for kicking.
I wanted to put both for throwing and kicking as I can’t ever make my mind up until I throw or kick but both wasn’t available. Also, no left handed scissors so had to learn to cut right handed.
On the International Left-Handers’ Day (1992), I am apparently 96 percent left-handed according to this test. I hold a cricket bat and clasp my hands behind my back right-handed. They did not ask about knife & fork or computer mouse. It makes me ‘seriously left-handed’, which is the highest category (but there are only four).
my score is 100% and I proud to be left-handed
I only bat right-handed because I played hockey at school and you can’t play hockey left-handed.Also, I hold the phone in my right hand in case I need to write something down with my left hand.
