This simple survey will tell you how left-handed you are and give you an overall score you can compare to the thousands of others who have taken the test.
You can see our analysis of the test results so far here.
So go ahead and tick the options for which hand you use for various things and see how you rate overall…
How left handed are you?
We all have our own view of whether we are left-handed or not and, ultimately, that is the the test - if you consider yourself to be left-handed then you are! That said, most people are mixed in their handedness and it is rare for people to do everything with just one hand or side of their body. Our test below will show which side you use for various tasks and how consistent you are in the use of your hands. It will also give you give you an overall score out of 100 for your level of left-handedness and you can see how you compare to other people. To get the overall score, we have weighted the various factors so, for example, writing left-handed gets a far higher weighting in the overall score than which way you hold a bat two-handed (see this page for more information on how we did this).

I never had teachers try to force me to write with my right hand. I know they did not approve but did not try to change me.
One issue is what is your dominant eye. I found out when I learned archery that you have trouble if your dominant eye and hand do not match. Luckily my left eye is dominant.
The only time I had major trouble was in the military the one time I tried to fire a grenade launcher. It can only be fired right handed. I could not hit anything unless it was very close. I was OK firing an M-16. The only problem was their forcing you to use a cartridge catcher on the firing range. The rifle tended to jam. I preferred the slight chance of a burn.
That dominant-eye thing is a real bugger! I, unfortunately, am right-eye dominant. I managed okay in archery. But skeet-shooting, -I can’t hit the broad side of a barn!
I got 95%: seriously left handed. The only thing in the quiz I do with my right hand is turn book pages, but (outside of the quiz), the only thing I do right handed is hold a computer mouse, but that’s only because most who use computers are righties and leave the mouse on the right hand side. Viva la left!
I got 100% great quiz!
I got 95%, I might have done 100% if it weren’t for the fact that I golf right handed (answering the club question, I don’t play baseball, or cricket), sometimes, when I can’t avoid it, which is most of the time. But my game is better when I am able to find a left handed set of clubs.
This test needs a “both” answer, or slider from left to right, there are some things that are optional, like swinging the club. the both answer would apply to using the mouse with me, depends on the computer and or the mood I’m in
I got 86% which is mainly leftie. In India we have very small space in mind to accept a left hander (or left legged). At a very small age people (not everyone, but still a lot of) used to force me to use my right hand. Even after knowing me as a leftie, they ask me whether I can write with right or not? Sometimes they ask me where did I learn to use my left? I generally have a hard time to explain that I am a leftie by birth.
You will be surprised to know that although I am mainly leftie, I still find it strange on seeing any leftie writting on camera or myself.
I was about 10-12 years old when I actually met a leftie, and he wasn’t of my age.
I am 54. In 1968, I was told by my 2nd grade teacher that she would not teach me cursive with my left hand. My mother would have none of it so the teacher had a student teach me to write cursive. I got blisters from right handed scissors and always spilled soup from a ladle with the pour side towards me. When I was young, it was hard to find a mitt for a left handed baseball player, so I adapted. Growing up I never even knew there were left handed desks. I only knew that everyday after school, my left hand would be filthy from the pencil residue from writing all day. All in all, I love being left handed.
When I was little my first grade teacher used to hit me with a ruler. She forced me to write with right hand. She made me sit at my desk until I get it “right” lol. I told her I couldn’t do it. One day I went home crying. I told my mom what happened. My mom had a talk with my teacher and said, “If you hit my daughter again, I’ll hit you with that ruler.” That was that!
I am a lefty in a family of sixteen, out of ten girls I am the lefty and I have three brothers of six that are leftys.. My Mom put a lot of time and effort into helping me learn how to read and write the correct way. There were many hurdles.. but I turned out fine, and am proud to call myself a 100% lefty.
96%! I an seriously left-handed. No one really minded me using the left hand in the 1990s. That was the times I was born, some time beetween 1989 and 1993. I will not give my actual birth year though. When I was in 3rd grade, none of my friends even knew I was a southpaw until I told them. My younger sister was also a lefty. I of course celebrate left handers day even though i am already an adult. My mom is the only person in my close family who is a northpaw, or whatever you call them righties. Also, if the right side of the brain controls the left side of the brain, only lefties arwe in their right minds. BTW, if that is true, those westsided satans are thinking right thoughts and right handed people are the ones thinking twisted thoughts!
I made a list for myself years ago. It had every day tasks, and several non every day tasks. This test supplied here is not reliable because only one answer can be chosen per question. The test I created had the option for choosing left, right, both or equal. It is mainly to prove left handedness, or how much, and equally prove how much someone can actually be ambidextrous. I am equally left handed and well as right handed, and about half of any task I am ambidextrous – meaning a task done with either hand equally as well as the other. The part that frustrates me is when I have to hesitate and allow my brain to figure out certain tasks will be applied with either my left or right hand. Some of my tasks I am more comfortable with, then my brain decides to change up and let’s me know, NO use the other hand. lol, it’s creepy, but interesting!
middle handed? oh, you mean ambidextrous.
come on already, get bilateral!
